Time shifts, findings, visitors-

Monday was very odd in the morning. Because I was on time, but as the day was much further along in the process of dawning I felt late. I think I have often felt late.

Back on a post where I talked about Bainbridge Island I mentioned my missing friend Gabe. Hilary found him for me- I still haven’t asked what the search terms were, as I have always failed. We spoke briefly and will do more this weekend.

My son Ash and his friend Sean were in Seattle for a few days and it was great as always to spend time with him. He’s on the road for a bit, in Olympia right now and headed for Portland and then the Bay Area on his way back to Flagstaff. Wish I was wandering with them!

Over on my myspace music page I got a friend request from Graham Joyce, who is the author of the stunning book The Tooth Fairy as well as also excellent books Indigo, Dreamside, and Requiem. Quite exciting.

I was walking the library shelves, and as there was nothing interesting in the adult fiction I wandered over to the Young Adult section. A couple of weeks back I discovered that is where Kathe Koje former horror author (of Bad Brains, The Cipher, and Skin fame) has been hiding. Low and behold I saw a name I knew: as in actually knew. Not as in I knew them from their work, or their reputations, but knew. So I have in my temporary possession Flora Segunda: Being the Magickal Mishaps of a Girl of Spirit, Her Glass-Gazing Sidekick, Two Ominous Butlers (One Blue), a House with Eleven Thousand Rooms, and a Red Dog by Ysabeau S. Wilce. This is very cool! It is a good thing to see old friends in print. So I’ll start it as soon as I’m done with William Gibson’s Spook Country.

On the music end of things I found Sonic Youth Records 2-5 which I will start checking out this weekend, and a Wooden Wand CD as Kath always tells me she is either listening to Wooden Wand or Woven Hand but she has a hard time keeping them straight. Any band you could confuse with Woven Hand must be good I reckon.

I am starting to think of playing shows again in the spring- I will be otherwise occupied until at least then, but I am ready. Working on converting pick songs to finger-pick songs, and seeing what needs to be kept that can’t be converted. It’s really weird to play with a pick now. It seems like it’s been more time than it has since the switch. Feels like years.

Hope your November has been fine-
