Another Green World

Yesterday I took a ride out to Ballard. Bought a fine raspberry min-pie at the Sunday Market, and drank a lot of coffee and at a cupcake at Cupcake Royale. I'm pretty much down with the high end of the low brow food thing. While a two dollar cupcake is on the surface absurd, in reality it makes you realize just how good a cupcake is when you need one. I should also admit I took a long ride ending up on Capitol Hill on Saturday and drank a lot of coffee and had a very much perfect chocolate old fashioned at Top Pot. Did I mention that I'm feeling a little better? I got sort-of sick after visiting Ash (& Aubrey & Erin & Spring- thank you all for putting me up!) in and started feeling pretty good again this weekend.

So after Cupcake Royale I made I wandered around and found Dutch Bike Seattle and took out the 'basic' model, which is really nice, but just perfectly upright. This makes good sense on the flats, but would be ugly on the hill climbs... Clyde Hill on a Dutch Bike = death and herniation, methinks. Then I took out the truck....oh my, this bike is the best thing ever. It's actually bordering on wrong how right these bikes are. At almost 3K, not justifiable...but damn, what a great bike.

After driving the truck-bike around I realized that I really needed some more coffee. Off to the FCC, where I sit & drink coffee and read and write at least some most days. There was a woman with bags filled with familiar herbs- we got to talking and it seems she is at Bastyr University studying Traditional Chinese Medicine. We talked a bit about that, and permaculture and containers (I will have to learn how to add links and pictures...I'm really into containers right now. If you have a large plot of arable land with a container on it, and you need some one to live there and farm it, I'm your man.) and she told me they had a fine garden.

Well, that's it for today: tomorrow, Herb Farm Heaven!
