Listening to James Luther Dickinson at the moment...part of a mix CD for someone at work...I have never had to be SO careful before, religiously, politically, sonically. Me and her, we aren't even in the same book. We may not even be in the same library. However, we got to talking music, and I promised a selection...so she gets Alejandro Escovedo, Nick Cave, Sorrow Town Choir, Jesse Sykes...bunch of good stuff. We'll see what she thinks.
Just finished the Long Emergency by James Howard Kunstler, which is about the coming bad times- perhaps my favorite subject. Reading it made me think of all the good end-times and after books- The City Not Long After, by Pat Murphy, Winterlong and Glimmering by Elizabeth Hand...if you read this- what are you favorites? Fiction, non, survival? What happens after the end?
